The Arizona Lottery announces that both draw and instant win games have experienced a sizeable positive uptick in sales during the first quarter of FY16.

Total sales for draw games such as Powerball®, MegaMillions®, The Pick™and Fantasy 5™ have increased by a collective 7.9 percent in comparison to the first quarter of FY15. Scratchers® and Charitable Pull-Tab instant win games have also increased by a combined 16.2 percent, resulting in over $22 million in total increased revenues for all Arizona Lottery Games.

“We work hard to ensure revenues increase year-after-year,” said Tony Bouie, Executive Director of the Arizona Lottery. “It’s extremely important because a portion of those revenues is allocated toward funding important programs in Arizona that would not receive funding otherwise.”

The Arizona Lottery launched a new giving back campaign in the first quarter entitled “You Play, We Give, Everyone Wins.” The campaign highlights real stories from players who are impacted and supported by Arizona Lottery’s diverse beneficiaries.  The Arizona Lottery gives 23 percent of revenues back to the community. Lottery dollars support a wide variety of programs under six main pillars: arts & education, community enrichment, economic development, environmental conservation, health and human services, and public safety, benefitting cities and towns throughout all of Arizona’s 15 counties.

In addition to increased revenues in the first quarter, Arizona Lottery players have won over $104.9 million in various instant win and draw game prizes. Retailers big and small, have also earned more than $12 million in commissions during this time from the sale of Lottery tickets.

Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game. All sales are final. In accordance with the ADA, these materials may be made available in an alternative format. Gambling Problem? Call 1.800.NEXT STEP (1-800-639-8783). Please Play Responsibly™.
