The Arizona Cardinals and SRP will host the seventh annual “Marquee Math Competition” for students from 10 Valley high schools at University of Phoenix Stadium on Friday, April 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Students from Valley high schools including Highland, Campo Verde, Mesquite, Mountain Pointe, Red Mountain, Tolleson, Westwood, Gilbert Classic Academy, University and Williams Field will compete in a math competition using football variables to challenge students in physics, geometry, and other problem solving disciplines for the chance to win a $2,000 donation to the winning school’s math department provided by SRP. The first runner-up will win a $500 donation to their math department.

The competition will take place in the press box of University of Phoenix Stadium from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Following lunch, the announcement of the winning team will take place at 1:30 p.m.

Each high school team is made up of three calculus students and two pre-calculus students. Every participant will receive a gift and the top two teams will receive a trophy.

Three individuals from University of Phoenix College of Humanities and Sciences will judge the competition: Daniel Mullins (Assistant Program Dean), Dr. Jennifer Fletcher (Program Dean) and Lindsey Jelle (Instructional Designer).

They will oversee the competition and grade the tests to determine the winning team. Since 2006, University of Phoenix has supportedCardinals community outreach efforts including the Donate to Educate grant program, Focus to the Finish scholarships, MVPs in the Classroom and Cardinals Classroom All-Stars.
