The Mountain West Credit Union Foundation raised approximately $30,000 to support the Mountain West Credit Union Foundation and presented six prestigious awards at this year’s Mountain West Credit Union Foundation Annual Star Gala. The 5th Annual Star Gala, celebrated on Oct. 12, 2012 was emceed by television and radio personalities Denise Plante and Murphy Huston of the “Murphy & Denise Morning Show” on KOSI 101.

Each year, the Star Gala is held to honor outstanding credit unions and credit union professionals. This year, awards were presented to:

• Sooper Credit Union — Credit Union of the Year Award (100M – 500M)
• Desert Schools Credit Union — Credit Union of the Year Award (over 500M)
• Susan J. Brayman, Director Bellco Credit Union — Distinguished Service Award recipient.
• Carroll Beach, Chairman Elevations Credit Union — Distinguished Service Award recipient.
• Kara Kirschner of First Credit Union — Emerging Leader Award recipient.
• Pima Federal Credit Union — Community Impact Award recipient.
• Partner Colorado Credit Union — Honorable mention for the Community Impact award.

“The 5th Annual Star Gala was an outstanding success that underscored all the hard work credit unions and their dedicated staff and volunteers do on behalf of their members and their communities. Credit unions make a difference everyday in their tireless work and are a model of their people helping people philosophy,” said John Uchida, President and CEO of Space Age Federal Credit Union and Chairman of the Mountain West Credit Union Foundation.

The event was well attended with more than 260 credit union professionals and volunteers.
