The Romero Awards are the highest honor in casino marketing and Gila River Hotels & Casinos was victorious at this year’s conference for its direct mail campaign targeted at inactive guests.
Members of the Gila River Hotels & Casinos’ marketing department, led by Corporate Vice President of Marketing Dominic Orozco, attended the award presentation in Las Vegas.
“It was an honor and a true testament of the collaboration of our entire team,” said Dominic Orozco, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Gila River Hotels & Casinos. “We are grateful for such an esteemed panel to recognize the incredible work and results.”
The award-winning direct mail campaign was targeted to inactive players who had not been to the casino recently and encouraged them to come back with an offer of free bonus play. The direct mail campaign resulted in an offer redemption rate of more than 17 percent.
In addition to winning the Gold Award in the Inactive Program category, Gila River Hotels & Casinos was given honorable mention for the Herschel travel bags gift program.
This year’s Romero Awards boasted 120 nominees who were from companies all over the world. The judging panel consisted of four casino marketing experts who together have more than 125 years of experience and were led by John Romero, the innovative marketer of who the awards are named after.
Categories are divided into large and small gaming facilities in areas such as direct mail marketing, community relations and electronic marketing.
