While the pros tee-off from the green during the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Waste Management will hold its sixth annual Executive Sustainability Forum in Scottsdale on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Speakers and panel discussions will be held at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, offering multiple perspectives on the sustainability of recycling and the circular economy.

Corporate leaders from global companies, representatives from municipalities across the country, experts and innovators will attend the day-long event.

Speakers for the 2016 Executive Sustainability Forum include:

  • Adam Minter, author and columnist at Bloomberg;
  • John Tierney, author and New York Times science writer
  • Peter Zeihan, Geopolitical strategist, global affairs expert and author of The Accidental Superpower
  • David Allaway, senior policy analyst at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality
  • Jeff Wooster, global sustainability director for the Dow Chemical Company
  • Jim Hanna, director of environmental impact for Starbucks
  • Keefe Harrison, executive director of The Recycling Partnership.

Discussions will be moderated by Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary and now co-host of The Five on Fox News Channel and Meghan Stasz, senior director of the Grocery Manufacturers Association.

Sustainability is an important topic, and deserves open conversation and collaboration to find solutions, said David Steiner, Waste Management president and chief executive officer. This discussion hopes to ensure recycling is sustainable over the long-term, both economically and environmentally, he said.

“This year’s Sustainability Forum steps right into that conversation and the broader topic of the circular economy, with first-class speakers who will offer thought-provoking, candid commentary and real-world insight into best practices surrounding the challenges faced along the value chain,” Steiner said.
