Susan G. Komen® Central and Northern Arizona (Komen CAN AZ) awarded a $40,694 grant to Golden Gate Community Center, a member of Arizona’s Children Association, for mammogram screenings and breast health education to underserved women in west central Phoenix.

At Golden Gate Community Center, the grant from Komen CAN AZ will support ‘Fighting Breast Cancer Together’, an initiative which provides breast health services and education to women considered to be medically underserved as many are undocumented, Hispanic women who are underinsured or uninsured. The program will provide 200 mammograms, and continue to integrate breast health education and outreach into existing Golden Gate preventive health programs.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with Komen CAN AZ again this year to provide critical preventive breast health services to the women in our community,” said Sarah Gonzalez, GGCC Director.

The Komen CAN AZ community grants program partners with nonprofit organizations with the goal to end breast cancer forever.

“We work with our community partners to deliver this promise,” said Heather Roberts, executive director for Komen CAN AZ. “Collaboration is key to reaching our goal, and we’re fortunate to work with so many organizations with aligning goals.”
