Abrazo Health’s Phoenix Baptist Hospital has added a new service to ensure that women in labor have access to the care they need, as they need it.

Through the new 24-hour Obstetric Emergency Department, hospitalists who are board-certified OB/GYN physicians, are on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Phoenix Baptist Hospital is partnering with OB Hospitalist Group, headquartered in Greenville, SC.

While many obstetricians divide their time between their office and the hospital, this program features hospital-based physicians focused solely on providing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, as well as those facing emergency situations. These hospitalists provide enhanced coverage and a critical safety net to OB/GYNs in the community, said Dan Jones, Phoenix Baptist Hospital Chief Executive Officer.

“Phoenix Baptist Hospital’s fully equipped OBED means patients will be treated by emergent-care experienced OB/GYNs and will have immediate access to the best surgical care possible if necessary. That gives women and their families’ peace of mind during one of the most important moments of their lives; when minutes can make a difference,’’ he said.
