IO, a data center technology and services firm, completed a SOC2 Type 2 audit covering its six operational data centers across the world.

This certification further validates the resiliency and operational excellence of IO’s next-generation modular data centers and further proves that the era of secure hardware and software enabled data centers has truly arrived.

IO has data centers in Scottsdale, Phoenix, New Jersey, Ohio, the United Kingdom and Singapore.

“Many of our customers are multinational companies with offices around the world. They rely on us to provide robust physical and information security to minimize risks. This certification is validation of our ongoing commitment to security and underscores the investment we’ve made to to help our customers keep their data safe,” said Mark Wachtmann, Chief Information Officer at IO.

SOC2 Type 2 is designed to provide IO customers with a level of assurance of corporate controls and demonstrate that IO has adequate controls as it relates to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. The SOC2 Type 2 report puts strict audit requirements in place and sets a high bar with a more meaningful audit standard than SAS70 or SSAE 16 (SOC1). IO achieved the SOC1 standard in 2012 and obtaining the higher SOC2 standard validates the security of IO’s infrastructures and services and is rapidly becoming an industry standard.

“Many of our customers serve clients that are in highly regulated industries. We need technology partners with robust information security and operating practices that demonstrate competency and compliance with all laws, regulations and internal policies,” said Jeff Norris, Sr. director of information security at LexisNexis MTS, a company that provides colocation, managed WAN and cloud hosting services to the legal industry. LexisNexis MTS has been an IO customer for several years. “IO has been a partner we can depend on for a superior level of service and their recent certification demonstrates their ongoing commitment to customers such as LexisNexis and what our clients are seeking.”

Coalfire Systems Inc., a leader in cyber risk advisory and assessment services, conducted IO’s SOC2 Type 2 audit. The report, produced after a rigorous independent examination of IO’s internal controls and processes, demonstrates the reliability, security, and operational excellence of IO’s modular data center technology for its customers.

The SOC2 Type 2 report scope focuses on IO’s ability to continuously show consistency in not only having security and availability protections in place, but being able to adhere to those requirements continuously over a period of time.
