Republican Sen. Michele Reagan says she is willing to compromise to pass legislation that would revamp Arizona laws on legal interactions between lobbyists and lawmakers.

Reagan says she asked elected officials and lobbyists what they could stomach when drafting her ethics bill that would require lobbyists to file monthly expenditure reports detailing any legal gifts made to lawmakers. Violators could face felony charges under the proposed changes.

A Senate committee unanimously moved the bill forward Monday.

Last year, the Senate shot down an ethics overhaul that would have limited free meals, trips and other contributions from lobbyists.

A Fiesta Bowl report released in 2011 disclosed that numerous legislators accepted free trips from the bowl in recent years. Many lawmakers did not list the trips on their financial disclosure reports.
