Michael Rumpeltin Opens Design Firm Brick & West in Phoenix

Award-winning architectural designer Michael Rumpeltin announced on Monday the opening of Brick & West, LLC his new Phoenix-based specialty design firm that will focus on hospitality, urban infill mixed-use and adaptive re-use projects.

Rumpeltin has been responsible for some of the most high-profile and acclaimed restaurant concepts to hit the Valley within the past year including The Yard, Old School O7, Culinary Dropout, Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend, Joyride Phoenix, Taco Guild and CHoP Chandler. Rumpeltin’s other notable projects include Studios 5c and Playa del Norte in Tempe.

“At the heart of Brick & West is a passion for creating great experiences. I believe in great design and that opportunities for great design exist absolutely everywhere if you know how to create them,” said Rumpeltin. “It is exciting to open my own firm and collaborate with some of the most inspiring and innovative minds in the hospitality and restaurant industries. For me, it’s about bringing life to great projects that create and support meaningful and engaging social interaction.”

Brick & West is currently working on new restaurants with Upward Projects, adaptive re-use projects with Wetta Ventures and entertainment venues with TriYar Companies.

“A core philosophy for us is to preserve historic buildings where possible and Michael’s foresight and expertise with complex adaptive reuse projects proves essential in our development process,” says Craig DeMarco, co-owner Upward Projects.  “We’ve known Mike for 20 years and are in the process of completing our latest project with him, Joyride Taco House in North Central Phoenix.”

Originally from New Jersey, Rumpeltin has been working in the architecture, interiors and urban design profession for almost two decades in Phoenix. He has worked with national brands including Starwood Hotels, Starbucks, Target Corporation and Under Armour.
