Vistancia celebrated the groundbreaking for the $5.5M, 4-lane Vistancia Boulevard Bridge crossing the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal at the base of White Peak and Twin Buttes mountains in north Peoria, marking the next phase of development for the 7,100-acre master plan.

Linking Vistancia to its 3,450 acres north, surrounded by higher elevations embracing premier desert foothills living, the future extension will offer four lifestyle communities featuring up to 3,500 homes, community recreational centers, commercial space, a 900-acre mountain preserve, city parks and public schools.

General contractor for the CAP Bridge is Skanska USA Civil West RMD of Phoenix. The design team is comprised of Stanley Consultants of Phoenix serving as the structural engineer/designer, and Greey/Pickett of Scottsdale is providing the finish treatments for the bridge. The bridge is planned to complete construction in the fall.

Set in the natural Sonoran desert and scenic mountainous terrain, the future extension of the community will offer four lifestyle communities featuring up to 3,500 homes offering a diverse range of architectural styles and home sizes, community recreational centers, commercial space, a 900-acre mountain preserve, city parks and public schools.

Providing a passage way into the newest community at Vistancia, the design of the bridge – ultimately to have six lanes — embraces the character of the natural desert, anchored by stone with linear planes that will blend seamlessly into Vistancia’s Sonoran desert backdrop.

More than 900 acres of the community are planned to be donated to the City of Peoria as a natural area preserve for permanent open space.

Surrounded by higher elevations, rolling terrain and panoramic views, Vistancia’s future communities are envisioned to embrace premier desert foothills living, immersed in the spectacular Sonoran desert offering outstanding view landscapes and preservation corridors.

“The building of the Vistancia Boulevard Bridge crossing over the CAP canal marks the next phase of development for the 7,100-acre Vistancia community, representing the most unique portion of the master plan,” said Mark Hammons, vice president/general manager of Vistancia.

“We are already seeing a tremendous amount of interest from homebuilders who want to be a part of Vistancia’s future. We strongly believe in this recovering market represented by the significant investment for the master plan’s future and look forward to creating a magnificent desert-inspired community in the north,” Hammons said.

The award-winning Vistancia is one of the most successful master planned communities in the nation, recently named among the top 50 best-selling residential developments in the nation for 2012 by Irvine, Calif.-based John Burns Real Estate Consulting.
