National law firm Polsinelli has been named the recipient of the Mayor’s 2016 Export Services Provider of the Year Award.

The firm was recognized at the Sisters Cities 17th Annual Global Links Business Outlook luncheon this past week for its “tireless generosity in supporting every aspect of all export and international related activities in the city of Phoenix and in the state of Arizona.”

The awards are intended to highlight the contributions made in advancing the Phoenix export economy and recognize companies that have demonstrated export excellence.

Polsinelli shareholder Michael Patterson accepted the award on behalf of the firm. Patterson was instrumental in bringing Carlos Slim, the world’s wealthiest businessman, to Phoenix last fall for discussions with government officials and business leaders on Arizona’s increasing role in global trade.

Patterson has also accompanied Mayor Stanton and other business stakeholders on trade visits to Mexico over the past several months resulting in new cross-border collaborations.

“Whether organizing and hosting international receptions or repeatedly lending their talent and resources in support of export and international opportunity, being an export service provider is in Polsinelli’s DNA,” said Hank Marshall, for the City of Phoenix. “Our desired export growth and the resultant economic benefits would not happen without the support of vital export service providers like Polsinelli.”

Accepting the award with Patterson were Karen Dickinson and Gerrit Steenblik. Dickinson is an international business attorney and shareholder with Polsinelli and the immediate past chair of the Arizona District Export Council, a position she held for several years.

She has been instrumental in advancing international deal flow within Arizona, particularly with companies in the Asia. Steenblik is a real estate attorney and shareholder with Polsinelli who has served as Honorary Consul of France for Arizona for many years as well as the past president and chair of the Phoenix Sister Cities Commission Grenoble Committee and past co-chair of InterChange, an international business conference.

Polsinelli has a team of attorneys nationwide who have successfully handled global client matters in 32 countries across 21 practice areas assisting businesses entering the global economy with corporate structuring, intellectual property protection, tech transfer, import/export trade, financing, product manufacturing, negotiations, contracts, mergers & acquisitions, and other cross-border and global market issues.

Other recipients of this year’s awards include U.S. Commercial Service (Export Champion of the Year), ServerLift (Product Exporter of the Year), BeyondTrust (Service Exporter of the Year), and The Minority Business Development Agency (Public Sector Export Service Provider of the Year).
