Dodge Data & Analytics reported on March construction starts in the metropolitan statistical area of Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, consisting of Maricopa and Pinal counties. According to Dodge Data & Analytics, the latest month’s construction activity followed this pattern:

According to the Dodge’s data, construction spending in 2016 on nonresidential properties totaled $158,064,000, a four percent increase from 2015’s $152,534,000.

Residential construction spending increased ten percent from $531,287,000 in 2015 to $586,966,000 in 2016. The total increase from March 2015 to March 2016 was at nine percent, according to the report.

Year-to-date totals, though, took a ding for nonresidential construction starts. The report found, from January to the end of March, there was a 20 percent decrease in nonresidential construction spending 20 from 2015’s numbers. The total for 2016 nonresidential spending was at $569,071,000. Last year’s year-to-date spending was $715,486,000, according to the report.

Residential spending saw an increase from $1,206,521,000 to $1,553,614,000 a 29 percent increase, according to the report. The report’s total year-to-date increase was ten percent from 2015’s $1,922,007,000 to 2016’s $2,122,685,000.
