LifeLock, Inc., a leading provider of proactive identity theft protection services, announced that Peter Levinson has joined the company as senior vice president of product and technology.

“We’re delighted to have Peter join LifeLock. He brings visionary leadership and broad experience, particularly in the mobile space, to our product team,” said LifeLock President Hilary Schneider. “He will play an important role in ensuring that we’re offering innovative and convenient services to consumers.”

As senior vice president of product and technology, Levinson will lead the company’s identity theft protection services, further developing LifeLock’s core product suite by leveraging the company’s data network and innovating new products across devices. He joins other recent additions to LifeLock’s leadership team, including Schwark Satyavolu, executive vice president of product and technology, and Ty Shay, chief marketing officer.

“Identity fraud is a rapidly evolving issue for consumers, affecting millions of people every year,” said Satyavolu. “Our goal is to make identity protection easier for consumers.”

Previously, Levinson led consumer-facing products at White Sky, a mobile security and commerce application company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. During his time at White Sky, Levinson led a product team that provided identity solutions with security and commerce capabilities for partners. Prior to that, Levinson led product management for global search user experience at Yahoo!, Inc., where he introduced a cross-platform re-design for a global consumer audience.

A recent study by Javelin Strategy & Research found that fraudsters stole $16 billion from 12.7 million U.S. consumers last year. With a new identity fraud victim every two seconds, identity theft is a problem for many consumers.
