Two Banner Health executives have been elected to serve a three-year term with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) starting January 1, 2016.

Lamont M. Yoder, RN, MSN, MBA, NEA-BC, FACHE, chief executive officer at Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Ariz., was elected to serve as treasurer of AONE. As treasurer, Yoder will be responsible for reviewing and overseeing AONE’s activities related to financial planning and budgeting. Additionally, he will chair the AONE Finance Committee and represent AONE on the American Hospital Association’s Board of Operations. Yoder has been with Banner Health since 2010 and held various nursing leadership positions before becoming CEO of Banner Gateway and Banner MD Anderson in 2015.

“I am honored to serve as treasurer of the American Organization of Nurse Executives,” said Yoder. “I believe nurse executives are well positioned to lead us into the future of creating value based care models to support population health management.” Additionally, Rachel Behrendt, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, was named to the Board of Directors, Region 8. Behrendt has been with Banner since 2013, where she serves as a member of the academic medical center’s senior leadership team. She also has more than 25 years of clinical and administrative experience in academic health care settings.
