GetFileAttachment-7Wells Fargo announced Regional Banking Executive Gerrit van Huisstede will retire in January 2016. Van Huisstede caps a 25 year career with Wells Fargo and is the senior executive in charge of Wells Fargo Regional Banking in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Washington and Alaska.

“Gerrit has consistently lived our vision of satisfying customers’ financial needs and helping them succeed financially,“ said Carrie Tolstedt, head of Wells Fargo Community Banking. “Likewise, his commitment to supporting the Greater Phoenix area as a community leader serves as a shining example to all Wells Fargo team members across the country. Gerrit has my heartfelt thanks for all the contributions he’s made over his career at Wells Fargo and I wish only the best for him in this new chapter of his life.”

Van Huisstede began his banking career with First Bank Minneapolis in Minnesota after relocating to the United States from the Netherlands. He later moved to Arizona to join Citibank’s Corporate Banking group, and in 1993 he began his tenure with Wells Fargo as Norwest acquired the Arizona Citibank operations. Throughout his 25-year career at Wells Fargo, van Huisstede has held numerous leadership roles in commercial and retail banking and the wealth management group, and today he leads more than 10,000 team members who serve customers through nearly 800 stores throughout Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Washington.

Active in his community, van Huisstede is a member and has served on the board of the Greater Phoenix Leadership.  He is past chairman of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and a former member of the council’s board and executive committee.  He serves as the secretary/treasurer on the board of trustees for Midwestern University, and is a former board member and past chairman of the Arizona Bankers Association.  Van Huisstede is also a Thunderbird School of Global Management Board Fellow.

Arizona Lead Regional President Pam Conboy will continue to be the executive in charge for Arizona Regional Banking.  She will also expand her leadership responsibilities to include Wells Fargo’s Nevada and Utah Regions.
