The Phoenix Boys Choir Board of Directors unanimously elected Kate Arthur, Principal, BearDown Properties, Brett Carlson, Attorney with Ingrassia, Fisher & Lorenz, PC, Edward Maldonado, Attorney with the Law Offices of Edward Maldonado to serve on the Board of the organization, beginning with the 2015-16 Season.

“The talents these three new members bring to the Phoenix Boys Choir Board of Trustees will be of tremendous assistance in furthering our mission.  Their exemplary leadership and expertise as well as their innate understanding of how the Phoenix Boys Choir develops tomorrows’ leaders is a welcome addition to our organization.” -Kristen Bruskas, Executive Director.

The Phoenix Boys Choir is comprised of young men ages 7 – 14, who perform in concerts held around the Valley as well serve as Cultural Ambassadors through national and international tours. The 2015/16 Phoenix Boys Choir Season includes Songs for Our Heroes, a free monthly concert series to honor veterans and military families, a Season Opening Concert on Nov 1, Winter Wonderland, Dec 12 -20, Vision for Peace, March 4 & 5 and The Happiest Songs on Earth on May 7.  More information on tickets and how to support the Phoenix Boys Choir is available at www.phoenixboyschoir.org

Kate is a Principal in a Real Estate Investment and Management Firm. Kate has served on the ChildHelp Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2012. She is currently a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle School Board. Kate is also a member of the Arizona Mulithousing Association Board and the Brophy Presidents Club. Kate has served as Brophy Auction Acquisitions Chair from 2012 – 2014. She has also been a member of the Brophy Fashion Show Committee for four years. Kate has served as a Brophy Football Team Coordinator. With the Phoenix Boys Choir, Kate was active as a parent volunteer for the Phoenix Boys Choir serving on various committees until her son’s graduation from the Tour Choir in May 2015.

Brett Carlson, father of Tour Choir member Matthew Carlson, has been a Tour Choir chaperone for the past two years. When he is not involved with choir events, he is a shareholding attorney with the law firm of Ingrassia, Fisher & Lorenz PC, the southwest’s largest firm specializing in patents, copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property matters. Brett is a former board member and legal counsel for Alliance for Audience, a collaborative arts marketing organization that sponsored such projects such as ShowUp.com, the Phoenix CulturePass, a community arts database and many others. He is also a Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. Brett holds degrees in Systems Engineering and law from Arizona State University, and he has lived in the Valley since 1988. Brett enjoys playing guitar, and he can occasionally be seen performing at Fiddler’s Dream coffee house.

Long-time resident of Arizona, Edward Maldonado received his Juris Doctorate from Arizona State University in 2000 and has worked as advisory counsel for criminal defendants since 2006.  He has been recognized by the Hispanic National Bar Association 2015 Top Attorney’s Under 40, the Phoenix Business Journals’ 40 Under 40 as well as Valle del Sol’s 40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40 Award in 2014.

Mr. Maldonado serves on several boards and associations around the Valley, including the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Valley Leadership, the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Bar Association.  During his youth, Ed was a member of the Phoenix Boys Choir and was given many opportunities to excel in music, and also perform in many historic international venues.
