Scottsdale Training & Rehabilitation Services (STARS) announced that its Board of Directors has named Dave Henderson as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of STARS, effective May 13, 2015. Dave succeeds long-time President and Chief Executive Officer Virginia Korte who retired from the organization effective as of December 31, 2014.
“This is a very exciting announcement for the future of STARS,” states Tim Clements, the Chair of the Board of Directors for STARS. “Dave has extensive executive-level management, fundraising and leadership experience with both the for profit and nonprofit sectors, and we believe he will bring that experience along with new ideas to STARS to take the excellent programs and services that we provide to the next level. Dave will be an excellent ambassador and positive leader for STARS in the years ahead.”

Dave’s resume includes more than 30 years as a top executive with Ticketmaster before retiring from the company in 2008. For the last six years Dave has been a business development consultant for a century old family-owned specialty printer company.

Dave was a member of the Board of Directors at UMOM New Day Centers for eight years, leading in a variety of capacities including Board President, Vice President and Governance Chair, where he worked collaboratively with volunteers and staff to promote organizational awareness and raise funds for facility refurbishment. Dave has also volunteered his time and talents as a member of the Board of Directors of Audrey’s Angels, Paradise Valley UMC and Desert Foothills Little League.
Dave holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University, and he is in the process of completing a certificate in nonprofit management from the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation.
“STARS has had a major impact in this community for more than 40 years with its work with individuals with developmental disabilities, and I am looking forward to continuing that tradition,” remarks Henderson. “The programming provided by STARS fills critical human service needs for a population that is often overlooked in our community. I am thrilled about this challenge and opportunity and I look forward to leading and raising awareness for STARS.”
