CBRE announced Wednesday that Darin Mellott has been promoted to Director of Research and Analysis for the Southwest Region.

As part of CBRE’s industry-leading Research and Consulting group, Mellott joins a team of senior analysts around the country who develop in-depth insight and analysis on a variety of topics and trends impacting commercial real estate clients – investors, owners and occupiers – today.

In this new role, Mellott will analyze the regional impact of developments and identify the effect economic trends have on regional property markets. He will also continue to establish CBRE as a thought leader in markets across the region, including Phoenix, Tucson, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Albuquerque.

“Our clients depend on CBRE’s market-leading research to make critical real estate and business decisions on a daily basis,” said Craig Henig, senior managing director of the southwest region and Arizona market leader. “In his new role, Darin will further elevate our research efforts, ensuring our clients are armed with the information and analysis needed to make well-informed, strategic real estate decisions that drive business outcomes.”

Since joining the firm in 2008, Mellott has played an integral role in positioning CBRE as an influential participant in the Salt Lake market. He is often sought out to analyze a wide range of issues, including community initiatives, the state economy and commercial real estate markets, for management, brokerage professionals and clients.

Previously serving as the region’s Senior Research Analyst, Mr. Mellott is involved with a number of external boards and organizations. In 2011, he was appointed to the Utah Economic Council—a joint venture between the Salt Lake Chamber, the University of Utah and the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget—which works to create an improved understanding of the state’s economy. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Economic Club of Utah and the Board of Trustees for the Utah Foundation.
