Fellowship Square Surprise broke ground Wednesday on its newest senior housing community.

The project, Fellowship Square Surprise, will be built at 16477 W. Bell Rd., and 16640 N. Sarival Rd., in Surprise. The senior living facility will consist of two buildings on 14.6 acres,  with 313 studio, one and two bedroom residences, including 255 independent living units, 42 assisted living and 16 units of memory care (32 beds).

As part of the bond financing, a $600,000 benevolent trust fund will be created to subsidize lower income residents.

Once completed, the facility will employ 120 people, according to Shelby Scharbach, Maricopa County Chief Financial Officer who also serves as the executive director of the county IDA.
