Construction on Phoenix’s latest post-acute development is now underway. Mainstreet and Mainstreet Health, the operating company of Mainstreet, broke ground in mid-February. This will be the first project Mainstreet Health will operate for Mainstreet.

The property, located at 3000 N. 91st Ave. in Phoenix, boasts 94 private beds, 67,697 square feet and will provide post-acute care (short-stay rehabilitation and therapy) and assisted living in a service-rich environment.

“We are committed to changing the way health care is delivered nationwide,” said Gary Smith, senior vice president of Mainstreet Health. “With our focus on the PatientGuest experience and a dedicated and compassionate team, the result is going to be an outstanding experience. We could not be more enthused for our first Mainstreet Health operation to be located in this superb community.”

The project, which represents a total community investment of $21.9 million, is expected to bring approximately 300 construction jobs and 150 permanent jobs at the property itself. Construction should be complete by February 2017.

As a post-acute center, the property will offer hospitality-oriented care with amenities such as a large therapy gym, an outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, a movie theatre, a game room, a spa, an on-site chef and more.

“We are transforming the health care industry across the country with our focus on innovative designs and hospitality-oriented care,” said Zeke Turner, founder and CEO of Mainstreet. “Our mission is to give our PatientGuests what they want so they can get well and get back to their daily life. It’s incredibly exciting and humbling to have this best-in-class property be the first property Mainstreet Health will operate.”

With this being the first property Mainstreet Health will operate, they have hired Sonja Nelson as the new vice president of strategy and business development of Arizona. Sonja will be responsible for developing the provider and payer relationships across the continuum of care to integrate Mainstreet Health’s operations with the rapidly changing health care environment, focused on patient-centered and physician-driven care. She comes to Mainstreet Health from Banner Health, where she most recently served as the director of strategy and planning.
