Peter Madrid is joining Cushman & Wakefield of Arizona, Inc. as Communications Specialist.

For the past three years, Madrid has served as Editor of Arizona Commercial Real Estate Magazine, overseeing coverage and writing a majority of the editorial content both for print and online.

“Peter brings to Cushman & Wakefield a wonderful combination of communications skills and knowledge of commercial real estate,” said Catharine Teeter, Acting Senior Manager of the firm. “He will be instrumental in building our social media presence, creating marketing presentations and expanding our networking presence within the industry.”

A veteran journalist, Madrid spent more than 30 years in the newspaper industry as a sportswriter and sports editor. He previously worked at the Kansas City Star, USA Today, the Tucson Citizen, and the Arizona Republic.

Madrid was an original staff member of USA Today (when it launched in 1982) and was a member of the Kansas City Star/Times newsroom that won the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Local Spot News Reporting. He served as an editor for Gannett News Service at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The Tucson Citizen consistently won Associated Press Sports Editors daily and special section national awards under his direction.

“I’m excited to be working with a dynamic group of professionals,” Madrid said. “Cushman & Wakefield brokers have been some of my best sources (as editor of AZRE). I consider them industry experts. I am thrilled that I will now be part of the Cushman & Wakefield team.”

Madrid is a member of numerous commercial real estate organizations including Valley Partnership and Urban Land Institute Arizona.

He is a graduate from the University of New Mexico, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Madrid will also be an adjunct professor this fall at ASU’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
