In response to a great 2012 including large-scale projects with clients such as Fox Restaurant Concepts, Universal Technical Institute, Upward Projects and Macerich, Kitchen Sink Studios is expanding its team and service offerings.

Known for its abilities in computer animation, the studio is ramping up its team to do more cinematic-style video, such as commercials, documentaries, social media campaigns and high-level marketing products.

The studio is also expanding its website design and development capabilities, and doing more and more incorporation of responsive coding for mobile devices and other new technologies. And, the studio is increasing its capabilities in search engine optimization to make its sites more effective.

“We’ve been very pleased with our level of business growth over the past year and some of the tremendous partnerships we’ve made during this time,” said Nick Hower, founder and partner at Kitchen Sink Studios. “We’ve had the opportunity to create some groundbreaking work for our clients that maximizes a variety of different platforms, from re-imagining print products to developing web and video presences that work spectacularly on mobile devices.”

Kitchen Sink is building out a 1,300 SF space within the studio’s walls, formerly rented out to other tenants, dedicated to new video and photographic production for everything from product and asset photography to green screen video capture and professional headshot portraits for corporate needs.

The company’s recent projects have included some innovative work in video, web and print design. Specifically:

>> Campus Acquisitions: This Chicago-based development group for high-rise student housing projects tasked Kitchen Sink with naming, branding, developing collateral, new websites and virtual video tours for two major development projects in Tucson and College Station, Texas. The scope of work included an iPad marketing presentation so that their representatives can mount mobile and man-on-the-street marketing efforts.

>> WORKSBUREAU, formerly will bruder+Partners, retained Kitchen Sink to help them create their new name and brand. The studio also created a new business system and brochure for the architectural group, as well as a stunning new portfolio web site that works seamlessly on both desktops and mobile devices.

>> Universal Technical Institute: Kitchen Sink Studios has recreated the company’s print collateral package for prospective students who are in high school, revamping it to look more like a “hot rod” magazine while clearly conveying UTI’s competitive advantages. The studio has also built out several more online, interactive virtual campus tours for UTI, as well as several other critical projects.

>> Upward Projects: The parent company of Postino, Windsor and Federal Pizza has retained Kitchen Sink Studios to develop new web presences and in-store materials for each of its concepts, including collaborating with the Upward Projects team on new concepts to be announced in the future. The first example of Kitchen Sink’s work with Upward Projects will be the Federal Pizza website.

>> BestIT: This Phoenix-based provider of comprehensive information technology services hired Kitchen Sink Studios to develop a captivating new desktop and mobile web presence featuring humorous video vignettes created by Randy Murray Productions. Kitchen Sink is also preparing matching print collateral that shows the company’s compelling competitive advantages in a memorable way.

>>  North Pole Experience: The popular Flagstaff-based recreation of Santa Claus’ workshop retained Kitchen Sink Studios to create a variety of visual and web presentations, including an augmented reality experience that is being used at their new facility to greet children and families at the beginning of their visit.

Hower said the studio would be focusing on more growth in 2013, including expanding its conventional video capabilities and continuing to grow its web and interactive division.

“Our clients these days are looking for innovations online and through video more than ever before,” he said. “It creates a tremendous opportunity for us to push the envelope in developing new products that brand them differently and help them stand out.”
