Ryan Companies US Inc.’s two million square foot Marina Heights project has been awarded the Associated Minority Contractors of America (AMCA) 2015 Project of the Year for the first of five office towers to open at Marina Heights, Building D.

Ryan has a long-standing commitment to the inclusion of Minority and Women Business Enterprises (M/WBE) on its construction projects. Through Ryan’s Emerging Business Inclusion Program, the company extends the mission of building lasting relationships with vendors, subcontractors and the communities in which it works. The primary goal of the company-wide initiative is to increase the dollars subcontracted to M/WBE companies.

Each year, the AMCA presents the Project of the Year Award to the project that provided opportunities to M/WBE contractors, vendors and suppliers in Arizona. Building D at Marina Heights received this honorary award based on Ryan’s inclusion efforts: M/WBE inclusion goals on all projects, access to project managers via meet and greets, bid opportunities for M/WBE prime and sub tiers, partnership opportunities to support M/WBE growth, cash flow assistance, project management, and field coordination training.

“This is another facet of Ryan’s mission of ‘Building Lasting Relationships’,” said John Strittmatter, Chairman, SouthWest, of Ryan Companies US, Inc. “Our Emerging Business Inclusion Program is a critical component of Ryan’s heritage in Arizona.”

In 2014, Ryan exceeded its Emerging Business Inclusion Program spend goal by roughly 80 percent. In addition, Ryan has been inducted into the Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence as one of a select group of corporations who have at least $1 million in spending annually with M/WBE suppliers. The Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence was co-founded by the Phoenix MBDA Business Center and is operated by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This honor is bestowed annually through a collaboration of the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce, The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Associated Minority Contractors of America, Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Pacific Southwest Supplier Diversity Council, Asian Chamber of Commerce, and Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West.
