The Bashas‘ Diné Market in Chinle re-opened its doors, revealing the newly remodeled grocery store at the corner of Highway 91 and Route 7 on Wednesday.
This location is the first Native American reservation store that the Bashas’ family opened, and is now the first Bashas’ Diné Market location to receive a full re-model.
The first 200 shoppers at the store received a free bag of groceries, while kids were given free apples. Trey Basha, Bashas’ Family of Stores president and CEO, was at the opening along with Tribal Healer Gary Begay and Joe Shirley, former Navajo Nation president, who gave the store a formal blessing.
The newly-remodeled Bashas’ Diné Market, which features a revitalized look and feel, unveiled several new amenities, including:
- New décor and murals celebrating the Navajo culture
- A rejuvenated deli section that includes a brand new rotisserie oven, more warm and cold cases for the deli and several self-serve options
- More tables and racks in the produce department to provide a more open shopping experience
- A new aisle that features non-edible popular products, so customers can easily and quickly purchase these items
- New freezers for the frozen food and meat areas for an expanded selection of items;
- A glassed-in decorating station, so shoppers can view cakes being decorated and more counter space to discuss treat options with bakers; and
- New seating in the eating area for a more enjoyable experience.
