A NEW DOWNTOWN PROJECT MERGES CHEF-DRIVEN DINING, ARTISAN RETAILERS AND WORKING ARTIST STUDIOS AND GALLERIES TOGETHER IN ONE COLLECTIVE SPACE

~The Blocks of Roosevelt Row Indulges Guests with a Place to Connect, Create and Collaborate~

Desert Viking Development is thrilled to announce a new project underway revitalizing a portion of the Downtown Phoenix’s beloved Roosevelt Row Arts District.

The Blocks of Roosevelt Row – a reference to the project’s location within the last two contiguous blocks of the original 1888 Churchill Addition – will see the adaptive reuse of three bungalow-style homes, the prominent Flowers building and construction of a new, three-story commercial building. Located between Fifth and Sixth Streets along Roosevelt Street, the project is set to be completed in fall 2017 with portions delivering earlier next Spring.

Dan Noma, Jr., principal at Desert Viking Development, says their vision is to have a positive and long lasting impact on the area, “The idea is to create a very cool, eclectic place where the community can collaborate and mingle with the local art scene.” Featuring local restaurants, lush communal patios, an entertainment venue, as well as market-style retail spaces — perfect for local artists and small artisan retailers — the project looks to become an entertainment destination for all ages to enjoy.

While enhancing the cultural vibrancy of this thriving artistic community, Niels Kreipke, principal and founder of Desert Viking says that special details have been incorporated to ensure the project protects the historical integrity of the neighborhood. “With so much vertical construction taking place throughout Downtown, we felt it was important to hold on to some of the quaintness of the area by preserving some of the bungalows and structures that have stood for many years.”

The renovated Flowers building is set to reopen spring 2017 and will feature dining destinations and retail options in the renovated space. The bungalows, constructed originally in the early 1900’s, will see expansion and renovation to preserve their character and charm while accommodating new restaurant concepts. The new market-style retail space will cater to local artists, artisans and retailers in a nod to the users that created the vibrancy for which this area is known.

AV3 Design Studios, a Phoenix-based architectural and design firm completed the master plan and is leading the design of the Fifth Street and Roosevelt Street properties while Lightvox Studios, a local collaborative architecture and design studio heads the Sixth Street project. Venture REI, a full-service real estate brokerage and advisory firm will be representing leasing for the project. The Blocks of Roosevelt Row will provide the perfect backdrop for those eager to shop, dine, explore, connect and indulge their creative and cultural cravings while proudly evolving the last two contiguous blocks of the original 1888 Churchill Addition.

The Blocks of Roosevelt Row are located between Fifth Street and Sixth Street along Roosevelt Street in the heart of the Roosevelt Row Arts District.
