A massive recreational motorsports facility is coming to Pinal County, and it hopes to become a global magnet for entertainment and an economic engine for the Casa Grande region, according to an announcement by developers.

Chandler-based Danrick Builders unveiled plans Wednesday for Attesa, a 2,360 acre recreational motorsports facility that will have two 2.8 mile road courses, and a private airport with a 6,000 foot runway.

The massive undertaking will also boast a karting track, driver experience center and a multi-surface racing and event area with plans to add residential, industrial and commercial facilities on the property.

“Attesa will be an optimal racing entertainment destination that will draw guests from all over the world, driving new jobs and contributing taxes to local economies,” said Dan Erickson, principal of Danrick Builders

Apex Circuit Design, a London-based race track engineering firm will design Attesa. Apex designed the Dubai Autodrome, Hampton Downs and many other auto tracks.

Everything from sports cars, stock cars, IndyCars and motorcycles will be able to utilize Attesa. Erickson said adding Attesa to Arizona will turn the state into an international racing destination.

Attesa will be six miles southwest of Casa Grande’s downtown, and near Interstates 8 and 10.

Danrick Builders plans to break ground for Attesa in 2017 after city, county, state and federal approval. They have already been meeting with officials, and filed an entitlement application in Pinal County.

“We are 100 percent behind this project. The Attesa community will be a complement to the nearby Nissan and Volkswagen test tracks. We are creating the center of automotive excellence in Arizona and that will be right here in Pinal County,” said Tim Kanavel, Pinal County economic development program manager.

Snell & Wilmer of Phoenix, Elliott D. Pollack and Co. of Scottsdale, Future Cities of Phoenix, and HilgartWilson of Phoenix are working with Danrick Builders on the project. Frost Motorsports and Chicago-based Hunden Strategic Partners are providing motorsport market research for the project.
