Three-time Major League Baseball All-Star and former Cy Young Award winning pitcher, Barry Zito, of the 2012 World Champion San Francisco Giants, and national recording artist Kelley James, will headline “A Night for the Troops” on Saturday, March 9, at W Scottsdale. The show will benefit Strikeouts for Troops®, a non-profit charity founded by Zito in 2005.

strikeouts for troopsPerforming together for a fifth time, Zito and James will perform their unique mix of acoustic music for a very special cause. Strikeouts for Troops gives back to injured military service men and women through grants by providing the ‘comforts of home’ to injured troops, uplifting spirit and morale, and offering support to their families.

Zito, a 13-year MLB veteran, is also an accomplished songwriter who has always had a love for the stage. Zito’s roots and influence in music began with his parents. His father, Joe, was a classically trained musician and conductor/composer for Nat King Cole and his late mother, Roberta, performed with the Merry Young Souls, the back up singers for Cole.

James has toured the nation with acts such as Mike Posner and O.A.R., and has performed over 800 shows in the past four years. He has sold out shows at the Key Club and Troubadour in Los Angeles as well as the House of Blues in Chicago and he is a regular performer at PGA events including the Coors Light Birds Nest at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Farmer’s Insurance Rock Ball, HP Byron Nelson Pavilion After Dark and many more.
