Barneys New York Interior Build-Out

This project portrays contractor collaboration at its finest, as two contractors were constructing different components of the project. Extensive collaboration began early during pre-construction, where major components were identified and planned for in order to eliminate surprises. The grand staircase created a unique challenge for the contractor given its design complexity, specific details required by the owner and architect, and the structural requirements. The staircase itself weighed more than 15 tons and was constructed of massive steel pieces, with the interior guard rail comprised of very large glass panels. Barneys New York took the lead in revitalizing the old Robinsons-May wing, drawing in 18 additional new retailers and restaurants, in the midst of unprecedented tough economic times in the country.
