UMB Bank Arizona received LEED Gold certification for its full-service banking center that recently opened in Scottsdale.

The certification marks the first LEED Gold-certified banking center for UMB throughout its footprint as well as the first facility designed to be net-zero, which means it is expected to produce as much energy as it will consume annually.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green-building rating system is an international benchmark for environmentally friendly, high-performance buildings set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council.

To achieve LEED Gold certification, the banking center was constructed with numerous green building features, including: onsite renewable energy with roof-top mounted solar panels, a user-controlled electronic glass shading system and temperature controls, daylighting and lighting controls, a highly efficient heating and cooling system, recycled and regional materials, water-saving plumbing fixtures and the use of low-emitting materials such as paint, carpet and sealants.

“UMB Bank is committed to building all of our new facilities to LEED certification standards in order to create a better environment for our customers, employees and the community,” said Jim Patterson, chief executive officer, UMB Bank Arizona. UMB currently has seven LEED-certified facilities throughout its footprint. “We’re excited to be the first LEED Gold-certified building for UMB, and we look forward to serving the Phoenix metro area at our new banking center in North Scottsdale.”
