On Saturday, January 31 from 5 to 10 p.m., Bad Water Brewing is hosting the first annual “Brewers Bowl” craft beer festival in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale. Created to showcase the burgeoning craft beer scene in Arizona, the event will feature at least 15 local breweries, plus live music and food trucks. The Brewers Bowl will benefit the Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank, a food cooperative dedicated to providing emergency provisions to the community’s hungry.

The Brewers Bowl is being held during the busy Super Bowl and Waste Management Open weekend, giving breweries from across the state a prime opportunity to showcase their creations to all of the locals and visitors who will be enjoying the weekend in the Valley.

According to Bad Water Brewing’s Founder, Lewis Kubitz, “This is an exciting time for the craft beer industry in Arizona. We came up with the Brewers Bowl as a way to showcase all of the innovative beers that are being created in our own backyard.”

Participating breweries are Bad Water Brewing, The Beer Research Institute, College Street Brewhouse & Pub, Desert Eagle Brewing Company, Dubina Brewing Co., Fate Brewing Co., Four Peaks Brewing Company, Freak’N Brewing Company, Historic Brewing Company, Mudshark Brewery, North Mountain Brewing Company, O.H.S.O. Eatery + nanoBrewery, Saddle Mountain Brewing Company, and Sleepy Dog Brewery.

Prior to the event, breweries can submit beer samples for a chance to be crowned the beer champion. The winning brewery will take home a trophy modeled after the Vince Lombardi Trophy. In place of a football, a beer keg will sit atop the trophy. The Brewers Bowl trophy will be awarded to the brewery with the most points received based on a variety of beer characteristics, including aroma, flavor, balance and drinkability, among others. The Brewers Bowl trophy will be presented during the event.

The Brewers Bowl will be held in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale near Bad Water Brewing’s Tap Room at 4216 N. Brown Ave., Scottsdale, Ariz., 85251. The festival will be set-up on Brown Avenue between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue, which will be closed to vehicle traffic.

General admission is a modest $25 dollars, and includes 20 beer tasting tickets. VIP admission is $45, and includes 25 tickets, plus early entry to the event. Event proceeds will benefit the Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank. To purchase tickets, visit www.brewersbowl.com.
