Ballet Arizona announced that the 2015-2016 season will open with the highly anticipated classic, Coppélia. This comic ballet remains an all-time favorite of many and Ballet Arizona is pleased to present this legendary work for the first time since 2007. Coppélia tells the story of an eccentric toymaker and a life-sized doll on his balcony that catches the eye of Franz, a young man from the local village. Not realizing this beautiful young woman is not real, Franz becomes infatuated with the gorgeous doll. His fiancée Swanhilde takes matters into her own hands by dressing up as the doll to show Franz his foolishness and bring him back to reality.

Mistaken identity and confusion surround the young couple in love and make this a uniquely hilarious performance. Set to the music of Leo Delibes, this enchanting show provides a fun way for everyone, young and old, to get a taste of the ballet. Ballet Arizona will give six performances of Coppélia from October 29 to November 1 at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix. This tale of life-sized dolls comes to life in colorful costumes, making this a perfect complement to Halloween weekend festivities. Patrons of all ages are encouraged to attend in costume.

In order to give first-time patrons the opportunity to “sample” the ballet risk-free, Ballet Arizona is offering special seats with a money-back guarantee. New patrons who purchase a Sample Seat can request a full refund if they didn’t enjoy the performance for any reason. A limited number of Sample Seats, offered at $35, are available for the 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. performances on October 31. This offer is limited to four tickets per patrons and only available to individuals who have never attended a Ballet Arizona performance.
