Folks will soon get to stand in awe of a 45-foot tall butterfly sculpture outside of Butterfly Wonderland at 9500 East Vía de Ventura, Scottsdale.

The sculpture, named Las Mariposas, will be unveiled outside of Butterfly Wonderland on Friday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. The sculpture has wings that extend 25 feet from base to wing.

The unveiling is free and open to the public and will have live music by Nouveau Papillon.

It took nearly a year to build the sculpture and was created by New Mexico-based artist Robert Romero, who is known for metal spiral fabrications.

The butterfly was made possible by Michela Roti Gallery in New Mexico, gallery owner Michael Sanchez, and the entire Sanchez Family Trust — Crystal, Brooke, Alejandro, and Sofia Sanchez.
