Grimaldi’s Pizzeria was awarded The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ Five Star Diamond Award, which was given to the pizzeria for its excellence in gastronomy, attitude, quality, cleanliness and overall service.

This award is the only of its kind to recognize excellence on a global level. It considers five-star establishments from every luxury service sector including restaurants, hotels, destinations, cruise lines and spas.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is the first family-owned, multi-location upscale pizzeria to be bestowed the Five Star Diamond Award.

The Academy started off as a restaurant rating bureau, founded in 1949, the current establishment is an offspring of this early group of reviewers and was officially founded in 1989.

Since 1989, the AAHS have received nominees of the Five Star Diamond Award from respectable sources around the globe. A carefully selected Board of Trustees, comprised of experienced hospitality professionals, are tasked to refine submissions to a group of finalists.

Once selected as a finalist, the company receives a visit from an anonymous inspector who reviews the destination and services. While a majority of the awards go to hotels and resorts, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will join more than 87 other five-star restaurants around the world, most of which are fine dining establishments such as Le Cirque in New York City, Café L’Europe in Palm Beach Fla. and J & G Steakhouse in Washington D.C.

“We are honored to receive the Five Star Diamond Award; this is a huge accomplishment for Grimaldi’s Pizzeria,” said CEO Joe Ciolli. “We not only strive to provide our guests with the best dining experience possible, our company prides itself on having a strong, recognized brand presence worldwide.”

Providing a visual seal of approval by the accredited institution, Grimaldi’s locations will receive a set of gold and silver-plated plaques complete with the Five Star Diamond Award logo and engraved signatures.

Grimaldi’s will also be showcased in the International Travel Directory to be distributed to hotels, resorts, fine dining establishments and members of the financial and travel industries worldwide.
