The Pima Air & Space Museum will host its summer evening “Night Wings” program this Saturday, July 25, 2015, from 5-9pm.

At this Saturdays “Night Wings”, The Pima Air & Space Museum will celebrate space exploration with guest from Paragon Space Development Corporation, World View Experience, University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Labs, and the Osiris-Rex Mission. These organizations will showcase the exciting space exploration happening here in Tucson.

“We are very excited to partner with this array of local organizations to help educate our youth on the topic of space” said Scott Marchand, Executive Director of the Pima Air & Space Museum. “This is a great opportunity for the community to come and interact with these organizations that are helping to shape the future of space exploration”

The museum is also excited to have pilots on hand from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the 162nd Fighter Wing Tucson Air National Guard.  These pilots will be available for children and adults to talk about their experiences flying the A-10 Warthog, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the EC-130 Hercules.

All five museum hangars will be open with hands-on STEM activity stations for kids of all ages, including: plane spotting, paper airplanes, launching rockets, tasting astronaut food and more! Plus unique photo opportunities for families such as little pilots inside the cockpit of a T-33 Shooting Star high-speed jet trainer. Community volunteers from the Arizona Aerospace Foundation, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), Raytheon Missile Systems, Savor Restaurant Concepts, The University of Arizona Lunar & Planetary Labs and the 390th Memorial Museum will run the STEM activity stations. These activities are in addition to the museum’s 300 amazing planes contrasted by the setting sun. Discounted admission starts at 4:00pm. For an additional $4 fee, visitors can ride the guided tram tour as it breezes around the 150 planes covering 80 acres (departure 5:30pm and 6:15pm).  Great food—burgers, salads, pizza and ice cream—will be for sale in The Fight Grill.

There will be one more 2015 “Night Wings” summer evening events this year on August 22, 5-9pm (the 4th Saturday of the month), with new special activities.
