The Wigwam won two major awards at the December Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association’s hospitality industry awards luncheon, Stars of the Industry. It was one of the only two hotel properties to receive multiple awards this year.

Carlos Hassey, director of tennis for The Wigwam for the past three years, was recognized as “Front of the House Manager of the Year” in the large property category.

The Wigwam Litchfield’s restaurant was a run-away winner of the best “One Time Special Event” for their participation in the Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge during last year’s Super Bowl in the Valley.

The Stars of the Industry award was created more than 40 years ago by the American Hotel & Lodging Association to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the lodging industry. While the categories have evolved over the years, the concept remains the same: to honor lodging and tourism employees who best symbolize the quality service of the industry.

“The Wigwam has a long tradition of involvement and giving back to our community, so we are thrilled to be recognized by our industry in multiple categories by such a prestigious organization,” said Katy Powers, resort manager at The Wigwam. “Carlos embodies the spirit of The Wigwam and our entire team was thrilled to take part in The Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge. To know that we made a difference in our community means more than we will ever be able to express. ”
