Basic Metals will open manufacturing plant in Goodyear

Basic Metals Inc., an independently-owned aluminum service center and supplier plans to open a new manufacturing and distribution center in Goodyear, AZ, company officials, announced this week.

The announcement comes following the Wisconsin-based company’s recent purchase of an industrial building at 15635 W. Illini Street near MC85 and Estrella Parkway.

Specializing in aluminum sheet, coil and circles, Basic Metals provides an unparalleled level of aluminum expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to the area. Basic Metals supplies aluminum to manufacturers, metal fabricators and metal spinners.

“We are pleased that Basic Metals has chosen Goodyear for its place of operations,” said Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord. “As Goodyear’s manufacturing sector continues to grow, we will also see supply chains expand. This presents the city with more economic development opportunities.”

Basic Metals plans to open in September, and employ eight to 10 workers. The acreage of the property provides the opportunity for a large expansion in the future, said Todd Fogel, President of Basic Metals, Inc.

“We have created many wonderful partnerships and relationships with our customers in Arizona while servicing them from our facility in Wisconsin,” Fogel said.  “We wanted to take the next step to further show our commitment to the markets we serve by opening a facility in the area. We look forward to building stronger relationships with our current customers as well as developing new relationships in the area.”

Working with brokers, Brian Gleason, SIOR and Bonnie Halley, CCIM of Phoenix West Commercial, Basic Metals closed the deal on the purchase of the building on July 20.  Will Strong, Mike Haenel, Andy Markham and Phil Haenel represented the seller, Gemscor Series, LLC of El Segundo, Calif.

Kevin McAllister, Chief Financial Officer of Basic Metals, Inc. said, “The addition of a new processing facility in Goodyear, Arizona is a significant investment for our company to make. We view Goodyear as an ideal city for our company to expand too. The growth the city has seen over the past decade made this decision very appealing to us.”
