The law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy announced that shareholder Kelly C. Mooney has been elected as chair of the Tax Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona for 2014-2015.

The Tax Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona provides leadership for tax attorneys and other tax professionals by furthering their education in the laws of taxation, facilitating the development of professional relationships, and fostering intellectual discussion about recent developments and current issues regarding tax law. Mooney has been an officer of the Tax Law Section since 2011 and was a member at large of the Tax Law Executive Council from 2009-2010.

In addition to her role as chair of the Tax Law Section, Mooney is also the vice-chair of the Tax Law Advisory Commission to the Board of Legal Specialization for the State Bar of Arizona. “I appreciate my involvement with the Tax Law Section and the State Bar because it is such a valuable resource for attorneys and legal professionals and it makes it very easy to stay connected with my tax law colleagues,” said Ms. Mooney.

Mooney is a shareholder practicing in federal tax law, working with businesses and individuals to assist with tax planning and analysis, entity structuring, and tax controversy. She earned her LL.M in taxation from the University of San Diego as well as her J.D., summa cum laude, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Arizona.
