The Arizona sun is harsh for skin, especially during the summer time, and desert dwellers are most susceptible to skin damage.

Dr. Susan Van Dyke and Van Dyke Laser & Skin have compiled a number of services to restore and protect damaged skin. All of the services that Van Dyke has compiled are all non-invasive.

Van Dyke’s procedures include regimes to resurface and tighten skin such as Fraxel Hands, Botox, and Clear + Brilliant. There are also a handful of treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, like Botox.

Aside from the classic beauty treatments to enhance the daily appearance of skin, the Van Dyke Laser & Skin team has also compiled a series of procedures for brides to have glowing skin on their wedding day.

Starting about four to six months away from the wedding, brides should start to consider skin treatments. Brides typically have a year to get ready, but that starts with a consult in order to have the best skin.

“You want to start with something like Cool Sculpting for noninvasive fat removal long before you do the dress fitting,” Van Dyke said.

Another beautification aspect that brides should consider is miraDry. This treatment safely and permanently inactivates sweat glands in the armpit. The procedure itself takes about 30-40 minutes in the office.

Although some of these treatments can get pricey, it’s important to pick a reputable place. The place should have a health care or medical provider, such as a physician or nurse practitioner. That type of authentication resembles that there won’t be any harm done to the patient’s body.

In addition to procedures, there are simple daily routines to take into account with skin care as well.

Sunscreen is an important part of skin protection, but most people don’t reapply every two hours like they should. Van Dyke says that an alternative to spray or lotion sunscreen is a powdered SPF 50 sunscreen.

“You can put it on and not disturb your makeup. It’s a great bridal tip for the day of the wedding, especially outdoor ones,” Van Dyke said.

Antioxidants are also important for skin. New products for skin care are loaded with antioxidants. While they don’t protect your skin the same way that sunscreen does, it helps repair some of the damage caused by the sun.

Even if people aren’t looking for skin care treatment, it’s still important to keep in touch with a cosmetic dermatologist from time to time, according to Van Dyke.

“The advances are coming to fast with products that reanalyzing their skin care every once in a while is a good idea,” Van Dyke said.
