The Professional Beauty Association at its 25th annual North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) honored Scottsdale’s Zolton’s Salon and Spa with the 2014 Salon Design of the Year award. NAHA is the industry’s most prestigious professional beauty competition in North America with nearly 50,000 entries competing for the winning title in 14 categories.

More than 1,000 salons entered in the salon design category where industry experts evaluated each salon’s over all ambiance, style and architecture. Five salons were selected as finalists, but only one took home the coveted award for Best Salon Design — Zolton’s Salon and Spa. Robert and Margret Quinn accepted the award earlier this month at the NAHA ceremony at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The star-studded awards event, hosted by Giuliana Rancic and husband, Bill Rancic, brought together 3,000 beauty professionals, along with tens of thousands of viewers from across the world who tuned in to watch the live streaming broadcast.

“We are truly honored and grateful to win this prestigious industry award,” said Robert. “There are so many aspects that go into creating a successful salon. In addition to loyal and talented staff, and great clients, we recognize that our salon design is also important and is an impactful way for us to share our vision, creativity and culture.”

Zolton’s Salon recently completed the award winning design giving the space a contemporary and posh look with detailed-lattice and mirror ceilings, clean white counters and chairs, and mirrored walls, all finished with modern silver touches. Robert had a strong vision for the design which he created without the help of professional designers or architectures, and was brought to life by Dan Arnett and Keith Burns of URI Construction.

Robert’s 30-plus year career began with extensive training the Alan International and the world-renowned Vidal Sassoon Salon and Academy in London. In 1986 he moved from Ireland to Boston where he opened his first salon, Crew International. While in Boston, Robert established a reputation as a top stylist catering to many local and national TV celebrities. Heading west, Robert sold Crew International and relocated in Scottsdale. Recognizing his great talent, high level training and experience Robert quickly became one of the most sought after hairstylists by Phoenix valley residents and visitors alike. In 2002 Robert opened Zolton’s Salon and Spa with his wife, Margaret.

Voted “The Best of Our Valley”, the 5,000-square-foot salon is located in the Greyhawk community of Scottsdale. In addition to offering hair, nail and aesthetic services, Zolton’s showcases an extensive retail selection offering a number of professional product lines including L’Oreal Kerastase, Pureology, Bumble and bumble, Phytologie, Aguage, MoroccanOil® and Kevin Murphy.
