Sophisticated Innovation
Moserform's newest collection, Sabina, arrives at Dean-Warren
By Allison Vieth
Renowned furniture designer and craftsman Thomas Moser states, “There are no straight lines in nature either.” That quote, found in Moserform’s catalog, truly embodies the spirit of the company’s first collection, Sabina.
Launched in 2006, Moserform’s craftsmen immediately began working on the Sabina collection, which is available at Scottsdale’s Dean-Warren showroom within the Arizona Design Center. Heavily influenced by American, European and Asian history, Moser’s journeys around the world helped inspire ideas for Moserform’s modern and sophisticated furniture.
“The Sabina collection is based on the furniture that was created during the Art Nouveau period, from approximately 1890 to 1910,” says Cara Webb, showroom manager at Dean-Warren. “Although the forms are based on a particular historical period, the Sabina collection offers a fresh take on period furniture.”
Moserform is a division of Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, which has been designing and building high-craft furniture for more than 35 years. Last fall, the Sabina collection opened in Moserform’s showroom in New York City. The collection includes 15 standard dining and upholstery pieces sold exclusively to-the-trade.
“We saw that hard-edged modern home furnishings had held our attention for over a decade and that softer flowing lines would offer a much needed reprieve,” says Bob Dillon, director of Moserform.
Moserform provides products and services including American black walnut solids and veneers, forged brass hardware, compound-mitred joinery, and hand-rubbed and polished surfaces. In addition, Dillon says, Moserform provides the “highest-quality, bench-made upholstery, with down and feather cushioning, premium frame construction and suspensions, multidimensional pattern matching, bias-cut welting and impeccable tailoring.”
Dillon says by using fabrics specified by the designer, the upholstered pieces have the ability to move through various time periods, functions and feelings. With original designs, customers are drawn to its fresh, innovative look. The softened and flowing lines add a unique design to its style. Dean-Warren customers are attracted to Sabina’s high quality, Art Nouveau lineage, trim architecture and excellence in customer service.
“As Moserform begins to release new additions to its collection, we will continue to offer the complete line,” Webb says.
Moserform is launching Treasures, its second collection, in spring 2009.
“Its many inspirations come from ‘finds’ that Tom has discovered as he travels the world,” Dillon says. “The collection is rich with variety in both materials and form.”
Currently displayed in eight states scattered across the country, the Sabina collection will ultimately be represented in 15 states. Moserform is also pursuing markets in Europe and the Middle East.
“Dean-Warren enjoys introducing new and innovative products to the designers in this market,” Webb says. “This new collection has a very modern sensibility that will mix well with traditional or contemporary interiors.”
