Begin the New Year with new ways to take care of your plants. Keep Phoenix Beautiful invites residents for its second free garden workshop series where locals can learn how to take care of their desert gardens with expert instructors. From water sourcing, tree pruning and irrigation methods, there’s a variety of topics to choose from throughout the season.

“It is important to learn the proper techniques when taking care of your plants,” said Cindy Moss, program director for Keep Phoenix Beautiful. “We’re excited to bring these free resources to residents who want to learn ways to grow a healthy and beautiful garden!”

The free garden workshop series, which began last fall, continues through the spring with eight more workshops being offered. These mini and full workshops are proudly supported by Keep Phoenix Beautiful’s partners at the Coca Cola Foundation and will run through April.

The workshop attendees will conduct their classes at PHX Renews, a 15-acre desert oasis of community gardens and gatherings offered by Keep Phoenix Beautiful. Currently, PHX Renews hosts a fully functional solar home for sustainable living demonstrations, two acres of food to feed local refugee families, a research space for urban agriculture and organic pesticide-free gardening, a therapy space for war veterans and a creative outlet for LGBT youth.

Attendees may arrive for the first January workshop today at 5:00 p.m. as well as this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The PHX Renews site is located at 4221 N Central Ave. People may sign up on Facebook at www.facebook.com/phxrenews or RSVP via email at phxrenews@keepphxbeautiful.org.
