This July, lovers of gardening and crafts will be able to enjoy a fun and interactive experience, as Glendale’s University of Phoenix Stadium will host the largest home show in the southwest, the Maricopa County Home and Landscape Show.
Over the course of a three-day weekend, guests at the home show will have the opportunity to attend interactive shows and seminars, and work on DIY craft projects that they can bring home at the end of the day.
“This is the one place to interact with thousands of local home improvement products and services along with the convenience of doing it all over one weekend,” said Show Manager Katie Jones. “We have a variety of vendors that will help attendees maintain their homes during the summer, along with some new interactive activities for all ages.”
The Maricopa County Home and Landscape Show will take place from Friday, July 15, through Sunday, July 17, at University of Phoenix Stadium. The event begins each day at 10 a.m., and ends at 6 p.m. every day except Sunday, which ends at 5 p.m.
Over the course of the weekend, the home show will feature various interactive workshops and seminars. This includes the free “Crafting in the Garden” upcycling workshop, in which guests may create a take-home project that they build from repurposed materials, with instruction from the event staff. Upcycling is a process of repurposing old materials for reuse.
The AZ Queen Bee is another popular event featured, where guests can sample honey, create their own beeswax candles, and get a view of a live beehive. There will also be a seminar put on by the University of Arizona Master Gardeners, where guests can learn summer gardening tips, such as how to prepare their plants for the summer’s monsoons, and caring for growing roses.
The event will also feature an art walk, free walk-up home landscape consultations, a pet training seminar, wine tasting and a large food court.
Admission to the Maricopa County Home and Landscape Show is $8 per person. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old can get in for $3, and children two years old and under get in for free. The event features free parking, and the venue is indoors and air-conditioned.
Guests can also gain free admission to the event by making a charitable donation to the Maricopa County Education Service Agency. The MCESA will be at Gate 2 at the stadium, collecting donated school supplies for underprivileged children. Guests who donate a new backpack will receive two free tickets to the home show. Additionally, guests may also donate three school supplies for a single admission ticket to the home show. A list of approved supplies for donation can be found at maricopacountyhomeshows.com.
