As part of the annual Philanthropy Leadership Awards Dinner, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Arizona Chapter will present its first ever Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of the late Eddie Basha, who throughout his life provided exemplary leadership and service to the community.

Best known for the Arizona grocery chain which bears his name, Basha was not only a successful leader in business, but he generously gave his time and financial support to many charitable causes throughout the Valley including local foodbanks and childhood education.

“Eddie Basha’s philanthropic footprint in Arizona was and continues to be broad and deep. He exemplified the true meaning of philanthropy; he was a neighbor helping neighbors. It is right and fitting that this first ever Lifetime Achievement Award should go to him. Eddie set the bar extremely high and it will likely be a long while before we see another given out.” says event co-chair, Ben Powers, CEO of Powers Young & Company.

Held this year at the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, the 29th Annual AFP Philanthropy Leadership Awards Dinner will recognize and honor Arizona’s philanthropic champions; the volunteers, philanthropists, corporations, and professionals who serve our nonprofit community through their commitments of leadership, time, and resources.

This year’s honorees include Bob and Renee Parsons for Outstanding Philanthropists, Wells Fargo for Outstanding Corporation, Ed Fox and Tom Ambrose for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers, Geri Wright for Outstanding Fundraising Executive, and Katie Wilkinson for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy.
