Considered the “America’s Most Vertical City” — because it’s located at 5,200 feet on top of Cleopatra Hill — and the “Largest Ghost Town in America,” Jerome was also once known as the wickedest town in the west. Once a copper mining camp, sitting above what used to be the largest copper mine in Arizona, Jerome has become an arts and cultural community located between Prescott and Flagstaff, and it only has a population of about 450. Tourists visit for both the unique shops and galleries as well as to get spooked by the ghouls roaming about the town.
