Following the announcement of INDYCAR and the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule, Phoenix International Raceway will host the return of the Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix on Saturday, April 29, 2017 under the lights. Phoenix will mark the fourth race of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season, with all events on the schedule set to be broadcast by longstanding television partners ABC and NBCSN.

“Last year’s race was a great event that brought back the tradition of IndyCar racing to Phoenix Raceway,” said track President Bryan R. Sperber. “Our April night race has quickly become one of the most important events of the series and one that the drivers and teams have circled on their calendars.”

Fans will see the young guns of the series, such as 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi and Josef Newgarden, go head-to-head with some of the most proven veterans in the sport, including Tony Kanaan, Juan Pablo Montoya and Will Power.

After an 11-year hiatus, the Verizon IndyCar Series was welcomed back to Phoenix in April 2016 with many former INDYCAR legends on hand to celebrate the running of Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix.

Fan-favorite Helio Castroneves shattered the track record – set 20 years ago by Arie Luyendyk – by qualifying fastest on the historic one-mile oval in a stunning two-lap average of 192.324 mph to become PIR’s new “Speed King”. However, he could not hold off the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series champion, Scott Dixon, from earning his first win at PIR and setting the fastest-ever winning speed of 138.822 mph.

2017 Phoenix Raceway season tickets are available on Sept. 30, 2016, and start at $99. Individual tickets and season tickets are available online at PhoenixRaceway.com, by phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223) or in person at the PIR ticket office.
