Press Coffee Roasters is expanding in the Valley with two new locations expected to open in Downtown Phoenix and in Tempe this Spring.

The roaster is opening a flagship store in Downtown Phoenix at Central Avenue and McDowell Road near the Phoenix Art Museum in May. The second upcoming location will open east of ASU’s Tempe campus at 1221 E. Apache Blvd., at the Nexa Apartments.

These new locations will be Press Coffee’s fifth and sixth locations in the Phoenix area.

The Downtown Phoenix café will open at the Muse apartment development at 1616 N. Central Ave. in a 2,000-square-foot location with an expanded menu including beer and wine. There will also be a learning space at this location where Press plans to host its Coffee 101 tastings along with other events.

“We’re excited to bring our nearly 10 years of knowledge and passion for specialty coffee to Downtown Phoenix,” said Steve Kraus, owner of Press Coffee. “The light rail and walkability of the area have helped the coffee scene in Downtown Phoenix thrive and we’re looking forward to being a part of this diverse and growing community of coffee lovers.”

Press’ second Tempe location will be a 1,300-square-foot space at the Nexa apartments. It is expected to open in June. Press is currently hiring to fill barista and management positions for both locations. Applications can be submitted at any Press Coffee (airport excluded).

Press Coffee currently has four Valley locations as well as a 5,500-square-foot roasting facility in Phoenix where it produces nearly 3,500 pounds of specialty coffee a week.

“Our expanded roastery has giving us the capacity to grow alongside our wholesale accounts like Luci’s Healthy Marketplace and Grand Canyon University. It also lets us showcase and educate the community about specialty coffee” said Kraus.

“Our Downtown Phoenix cafe is designed with education and events in mind so we can continue to build on what we offer at the roastery,” said Kraus.
