Local hair salon Keep It Cut has redefined the way men look with its unlimited cuts for a flat monthly fee. This month, they open two new locations in Ahwatukee at 4025 E. Chandler Blvd. and in Tempe at 5118 S. Rural Rd. the beginning of November 2015. During the openings, guests can enjoy food and drinks and sign up for memberships. Those who sign up for memberships by November 6 will be entered into a drawing for a free lifetime membership.

Jacob Meltzer and Josh Thorsvik started Keep It Cut two years ago after being fed up with unkempt hairlines, unruly beards and high prices. The duo wanted to keep their look tight and fresh without shelling out the money for frequent cuts.

“We wanted to create a place where we didn’t have to pay every time we got a haircut,” says Meltzer. “The idea of Keep It Cut is one flat monthly fee for as many cuts as you want.”

Keep It Cut salons boast a relaxed atmosphere where people are encouraged to come in, sign up, and unwind. The new shops are both 1,200 square feet and focus on an upbeat urban feel with a simplified set of offerings: haircuts, hair washes and beard/mustache grooming. Knowledgeable and personable stylists stand by to provide top notch haircut experiences for clients, acting as guides on current trends, styling tips or complete hair makeovers.

There are four monthly membership levels to choose from. Single haircuts are also available for $17.

• Regular – Unlimited Haircuts $26/month

• Kit and Caboodle Regular – Unlimited Haircuts and Wash $32/month

• Lock, Stock, and Barrel Regular – Unlimited Haircuts and Grooming $35/month

• Whole Hog Regular – Unlimited Haircuts, Wash, Grooming $41/month

The new stores are the first expansions for Meltzer and Thorsvik. They plan to hire 5 people at each shop in positions of stylists and managers.

“We had a lot of requests from people to open in their neighborhoods,” says Meltzer. “Because Josh and I are both ASU grads and have lived and worked in Tempe, it was certainly a draw for us to bring our next salons to the East Valley.”

Keep It Cut is also offering a free first month of membership to those who make a $25 loan through KIVA.com. KIVA is a non-profit organization working to alleviate poverty by allowing ordinary people to loan money to entrepreneurs who are working their way out of poverty. Keep It Cut is committed to giving back to those in need and loans out a portion of their business profits through KIVA each month as well.
