Let’s face it: the old bikini (and the monokini, and tankini, and itsy bitsy string bikini) have given us a good ride and a hefty dose of body scrutiny the past few years, but we’d like to try something new. Thank you to Victoria’s Secret for introducing the natural-looking, maybe even somewhat comfortable push-up bikini before everyone else saw the trend and added floaties to the cups (have you seen those?!), making it near impossible to find a swimsuit top today that doesn’t also suffice as a life vest (practical, perhaps, when the Titanic went down but unnatural and…unflattering.)
Of course, I love a two-piece with personality and as a girl that shamelessly tends to collect bikini tops on sale even when there’s no coordinating bottom to be found, I have to move on this summer. Thankfully, Phoenix retailer Exquisite Swimwear has heard our cry for sexy, curve-enhancing/curve-creating mono swimsuits and are dishing out some of the best we’ve seen in years. Forgive us for the cliche, but these aren’t your mother’s bathing suits.
