Talking Stick Resort, an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, has announced that its fine-dining restaurant, Orange Sky, has earned Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for the fifth year in a row. The signature eatery at Talking Stick Resort – which is named after its breathtaking views of the Arizona sunsets—features an impeccable wine list selection of more than 300 bottles and 30 wines by the glass. “We’re proud Wine Spectator has decided to recognize Orange Sky once again,” said Ramon Martinez, director of public relations for Talking Stick Resort. “The restaurant is our culinary jewel so we’re elated to see our wine offerings receive such a prestigious award. It truly is an honor and we don’t take the recognition lightly.”

Deemed by many the go-to guide for tastings, wine ratings and dining, Wine Spectator   evaluates wine lists annually. Each year, restaurants have an opportunity to win one of three awards including the Grand Award, Best of Award of Excellence and Award of Excellence. The latter award recognizes wine lists with a minimum of 90 choices that coincide with the restaurant’s dining options. Orange Sky was one among more than 2,500 restaurants to receive the accolade in 2015 and as an award recipient, the upscale eatery will be featured in Wine Spectator’s Aug. 31 edition.

To qualify for an award from Wine Spectator, the restaurant’s wine list must showcase complete, accurate information, including appellations and vintages for all selections. The complete producer names, as well as correct spellings, are required and the overall presentation of the wine list is also reviewed.

Orange Sky contains 200 seats and a versatile menu that will satisfy all tastes. The restaurant’s glass wine room contains more than 100 white wine selections, which are stored in a temperature controlled environment of 42 degrees, and red wines that are kept safely in hand-crafted, cedar wood wine racks. The true epitome of elegance, all of Orange Sky’s wines are served in lead crystal glassware, fitting to the varietal.
